Biography:
Dr Theodorus Mostert is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Botany at the University of Zululand and his expertise focuses on vegetation studies include plant community descriptions based on the internationally accepted standard of the Zurich Montpellier School of Phytosociology within the Grassland Biome, Savanna Biome, Forest Biome, and the Indian Ocean Coastal Belt Biome. Formal syntaxonomic classification of vegetation at regional and national scale following the international code for vegetation nomenclature, with specific reference to the Kruger National Park and the Soutpansberg Mountain Range. Conservation status revisions on rare and endangered plants of southern Africa using the IUCN criteria.

Qualifications:

PhD Vegetation Science (UP), MSc African Mammalogy (UP), BSc Hons Wildlife Management (UP), BSc Botany and Zoology (UP).

Research interests: 

Current and recent research include vegetation studies within the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park, Umlalazi Nature Reserve, Enseleni Nature Reserve, Amatigulu Nature Reserve, Ongoye Forest Reserve, Sand Forests, as well as a conservation status revision of Didymoplexis verrucosa. Tree diversity surveys include Ntendeka Forest, Entumeni Forest, Maphelane Nature Reserve, Harold Johnson Nature Reserve, False Bay Park, Bonamanzi Game Reserve, Kube Yini, Southern Lebombo Mountain Range, Nkandla Forest, Tembe Elephant Reserve, Ndumo Game Reserve, Dlinza Forest, Futululu Forest, Ozabeni and Ngobezeleni.
