The UNIZULU Engineering Breakfast on 22nd May 2025 was an epic morning of inspiration and networking. Held at our new Engineering Building located on our Richards Bay Campus, the event brought together industry leaders and engineering students for a powerhouse session on career opportunities, engineering challenges, and bridging the gap between graduation and employment.

🎤 Prof Nokuthula Kunene, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation; Prof Nokukhanya Jili-Mbanjwa, Director of Research and Innovation; and Prof Khoboso Lehloenya, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering, kicked things off with powerful insights on UNIZULU’s commitment to innovation, transformation, and student success. Then, industry experts like Kelvin Mkhabela, who is a Vice President of Operations at South32, shared on the opportunities and challenges facing the sector. Carl Erasmus, engineering manager at Tronox, touched on opportunities, and challenges of electric engineering while Linley Nadasen from KZN EDTEA, and Tristan Du Pisani from Bell Equipment dropped game-changing knowledge on electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering sharing real-world experiences, challenges, and golden opportunities.

The Q&A sessions were fire, with students asking sharp questions and getting expert advice. And of course, the event wrapped up with a scrumptious breakfast and networking, where future engineers connected with professionals, because great careers start over great conversations.
