Biography:
Dr. Rendani V. Makahane is a lecturer at the Department of Hydrology, University of Zululand since 2023. She served as a Postdoctoral Researcher for 2 years at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal focusing on the application of Water Accounting Plus (WA+) in Southern Africa (South Africa, Eswatini, and Mozambique). She also served at the United Nations Environmental Programme as a Program Management Associate, where she supported various environmental projects undertaken by UNEP in the SADC region. As a consultant, Rendani has concluded various specialist reports as part of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Water Use License Applications (WULA). She has over 8 years of experience in research and consulting under environmental and geoscientific fields.

Qualifications:
BSc degree in Geology, a BSc Hons in Geology, an MSc degree in Geohydrology, and a PhD in Geohydrology all from the University of the Free State.

Research interests:
She is an active researcher with research interests in groundwater modeling, groundwater monitoring, groundwater exploration, hydrogeochemistry, water resource monitoring and management, applied mathematics, application of remote sensing in water resource management, and more.
