The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies has strong collaborations with South African universities such as North West University, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Limpopo, University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, and Stellenbosch among others. Similar collaborations exist internationally with institutions such as University of Eastern Finland, Nottingham Trent University, University of Reunion and Finnish Meteorological Institute in Helsinki.

The Department offers both undergraduate and post graduate courses in both Physical and Human Geography. Areas of research under these components of Geography include the following:

Physical Geography

  • Application of GIS in Remote Sensing
