Biography:
Mumsy, received her BTech in Food and Beverage Management in 2005 in Vaal University of Technology (Project Title: the use of Seshebo (tomato and onion mix) in low-income households). In 2007 she completed an MTech Degree in Food Service Management also in Vaal University of Technology (VUT) (Project Title: The Sustainability of Corn Soya Blend use in the School Feeding Programme). In 2006 Join the Department of Basic Education for a 1year Internship Programme as a National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) in the monitoring and evaluation section. In 2008 joined Hope Nutrition Consultancy as a Project Coordinator and Training facilitator. Major projects which she conducted and coordinated include, establishment of food security projects (schools and community gardens), deworming project for school children, which aimed at alleviating malnutrition. In 2009 she joined Walter Sisulu University as a Lecturer and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator. In 2014 she joined University of Zululand as a Lecturer and WIL coordinator. 2017 she was granted a full scholarship by Nuffic a Dutch organisation for internationalisation in education to go and attend a short course in the Netherlands in Learning, action research and outreach making higher education boost food security. She presented academic papers both nationally and Internationally and has two (2) published research papers in the field of Hospitality Management. Currently she is completing a PhD qualification in Food and Nutrition at Durban University of Technology (DUT).
