Events

Innovative Teaching and Learning. Our students engaging in Hackathon during quantity foods production and Food Marketing practical sessions. They were developing Samp Mahewu responding to the need from Hluhluwe women who sell Samp Mahewu, who wanted to improve their product.

Innovation and Community Engagement. We collaborate with other universities, government and communities. Here we are transforming potatoes – we added value by making various food items such as doughnuts, cakes, bread , soup etc using the climate smart potato varieties developed by North West University and planted by youth, women and men smallholder farmers from Pietermaritzburg.

We expose our students to modelling opportunities to promote entrepreneurship as we encourage our students to be job creators – optimising livelihood options is one of our focuses.
