The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Zululand recently hosted its debut Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS) Workshop. The event took place on Monday, 9 September at the Umhambi Lodge, Richards Bay.

The workshop was officially opened by Prof Gideon De Wet, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation. UNIZULU staff members, postgraduate students attended the thought-provoking international workshop.

The overarching goal of the workshop was to ascertain how and to what extent IKS can be mobilized in response to the effects of climate change issues such as drought in many African countries including South Africa.
