Biography:

Thembinkosi Mthembu joined the Department of Geography at the University of Zululand in 1990. He is a human geographer with interest in cultural environments, demographics and geography of health. He teaches modules of human and physical geography from first year to honours level. These modules are SGES111: Introduction to physical and environmental geography, SGES112: Introduction to human geography, SGES212: Demographics health and sustainable development, SGES311:  Urban environment and recreation planning and SGES501: History, philosophy and methodology of Geography.

Research Interest

The research interests of Thembinkosi span the area of geography of health and natural resources management. He is currently working on the spatial mobility of people who pursue the services of health practitioners. There is a number of Third year and Honours students who are working under his supervision.

Genetic and Phenotypic Characterisation of Indigenous farm animals’ populations and production systems Thereof in Areas of KwaZulu Natal.
