Biography:

Mr Mafuza Maya joined the Department of Geography at the University of Zululand in 2016. He is an earth scientist whose research interests include geomorphology, remote sensing and spatial analysis.  He teaches physical geography and environmental management modules from second year to third year. The modules include SGES211: Global landforms and cartography, SGES331: Land use and natural resources management, SGES312: Environmental Management and SGES322: Environmental Fieldwork and research. 

The remote sensing analysis of regolith susceptibility to erosion on the Eastern Cape Wild Coast, Assessment of heavy metal enrichment and accumulation near Witbank Coal Fields and also Urban geochemical mapping. There is a number of Third year and Honours students who are working under his supervision.  

Qualifications:
BSc, BScHons (UFS), MSc (Wits), PostGradCert.-Remote Sensing (ITC)
