Biography:
Dr Nolwazi Z. Khumalo holds a PhD in Agriculture (Agribusiness) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where her research focused on “The Contribution of Climate-Smart Agriculture to Small-Scale Urban Crop Farmers’ Food and Income Security in eThekwini Municipality, South Africa.” She also holds an MSc in Agriculture (Agribusiness) Cum Laude from the University of Zululand. Dr Khumalo has extensive academic experience, having previously lectured in the Agribusiness section at Mangosuthu University of Technology (2020/21) and served as a contract lecturer at the University of Zululand in 2021. Dr Khumalo is an nGAP Lecturer in Agribusiness in the Department of Agriculture at the University of Zululand. She is passionate about teaching and actively supervises postgraduate research students at Honours and Master’s levels.

BSc in Agriculture (Agribusiness)
MSc in Agriculture (Agribusiness) (Cum-Laude) (An assessment of the contribution of peri-urban agriculture on household food security in Tongaat, eThekwini Municipality).
PhD in Agriculture (Agribusiness) (The contribution of climate-smart agriculture to small-scale urban crop farmers’ food and income security in eThekwini Municipality, South Africa).
Research interests:
Dr Khumalo’s research interests encompass various topics, including climate change, food security, food policy, and urban and peri-urban agriculture. Additionally, she has developed a keen interest in the Economics of Higher Education (HE) and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
