Post Graduate Bursary Application Form

Deloitte FSA division is currently in the process of recruiting Final-Year university students or Honours students studying either of the courses listed in the attached bursary description file. Therefore, we kindly request for your assistance with regards to spreading a word to your well-performing students in your department about this existing bursary for them to apply if they are interested.

 

Students would be shortlisted for this Bursary, and before that we would like to receive their CVs and Academic Transcripts so that we can perceive if they meet the requirements or not. After informing your well-performing students, if they are interested, can you please gather their CVs and transcripts and send them to us (via this email)?

 

The students are also welcome to send their documents to this email directly or sending everything to you, then after you will share them with us, whichever approach you prefer, would be suffice. We are also happy to do a presentation about Deloitte FSA and the bursary to your school if you are interested. The attached document describes the Deloitte FSA and it’s bursary initiative, as well as the requirements

ABOUT THE VODACOM BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Vodacom is inviting students to apply for their academic Merit Bursary, for the 2024 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for Undergraduate studies within STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). (Postgraduate students may also be funded at Vodacom’s discretion.)

MORE ABOUT THE VODACOM BURSARY PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & OTHER BENEFITS

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, textbook allowance, meal allowance and accommodation in university residence or capped allowance for private accommodation.

Bursary recipients will also receive a laptop and cellphone, as well as the following benefits: orientation workshop for all new bursary students, workplace exposure via the structured Vacation Work programme, work readiness skill training for final year students to gain skills to enter the working world and full access to Wellness Programme (ICAS) services.
 

MORE ABOUT THE VODACOM BURSARY PROGRAMME – SELECTION & CONTRACT

Bursaries will be awarded for the entire duration of the degree qualification – subject to recipients maintaining satisfactory academic results, and submitting proof of academic results each year.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by no later than 15 December 2023.

After the final selection is made, recipients will need to enter into a contractual agreement with Vodacom. Should selected students may not to accept the bursary offer, they must notify Vodacom within 48 hours.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE VODACOM BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen by birth
  • You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying full-time, towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the fields of study listed above (postgraduate funding may be offered at Vodacom’s discretion)
  • You must be entering the 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of full-time study
  • You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • You must achieve an exemption pass in Matric and a minimum result of 70% for all subjects
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% at tertiary level, if in 1st year
  • You must be in financial need
  • You must NOT have a criminal record

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE VODACOM BURSARY

Students must follow these steps to apply:
Step 1: Register an account on the Vodacom Bursary Platform
(You will need to provide your ID number, email address, contact number, password, and your course of study)
Step 2: Await a verification email with a link
Step 3: Use the verification link to Login to your account, using your email address and password
Step 4: Fill in the online application form, which includes: personal details, contact details, education history, leadership positions, current obligations
Step 5: Upload your supporting documents as listed below

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • Full academic record/ transcripts, if currently studying (on institutions letterhead)

After submitting an application, all candidates will receive a confirmation email from Vodacom. The Bursary Management team will carefully assess each application and provide feedback every step of the way!

WHO CAN QUALIFY?

The Standard Bank Group Bursary is available if you require funding for your first, second, third and final year of undergraduate studies – as well as if you want to pursue your postgraduate studies up to Master’s level. 

To apply, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Have achieved an average of 65% and above in the latest examinations (mid-year / June)
  • Be registered for full time undergraduate or postgraduate studies
  • Meet the admission requirements of your university if applying for a post-graduate bursary.

To qualify, you should be well-rounded academically, with strong performance in any of the following fields:

If you get through the first stage of application, we’ll invite you to participate in a formal assessment process, including (but not limited to) psychometric evaluation and an interview. Financial need is considered in applications.

Bursary recipients are expected to:

  • Provide Hortgro with quarterly updates regarding their studies and general well-being
  • Submit results each semester
  • Maintain good behaviour throughout their studies
  • Attend Hortgro functions

The bursary award is renewable each year, based on satisfactory academic performance.

Bursary recipients will have access to a mentor, who will provide motivation to help students throughout their studies.

ABOUT THE MASAKH’ISIZWE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The Department of Infrastructure is inviting students to apply for the Masakh’iSizwe Bursary Programme, for the 2024 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the Transport, Engineering and Built Environment sector (Degree or Diploma), including the following fields:

Architecture
Civil Engineering
Construction Management
Electrical Engineering
Electronic Engineering
Geomatics
Mechanical Engineering
Mechatronics
Property Studies
Quantity Surveying
Town/ City and Regional Planning
Transport Economics
Transportation Engineering
Bursaries will also be awarded for studies in disciplines deemed to be scarce and critical by the Department of Infrastructure.

MORE ABOUT THE MASAKH’ISIZWE BURSARY – EXPENSES COVERED & SELECTION

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, prescribed study materials, food/ transport and accommodation in residence. The bursary also provides students with the following benefits: support services programmes, secures learning opportunities for bursary recipients (interns) and secures employment opportunities for graduates.

MORE ABOUT THE MASAKH’ISIZWE BURSARY – OBLIGATIONS & SERVICE CONTRACT

During the course of studies, bursary recipients may be required to perform the following during certain weekends: attend workshops; events and meetings, partake in academic experiential training and partake in outreach programmes.

Upon graduation, students are required to “work back” the bursary – the requirement is 1 year of work within the public sector, for every year of bursary funding received.

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be currently in Matric or you must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying full-time, towards a Degree or Diploma in one of the fields listed above, in 2024
  • You must be studying or have applied to to study at one of the following universities in the the Western Cape: University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch or Cape Peninsula University of Technology
  • Preference will be given to: financially disadvantaged students, female students, students with disabilities and students from the Western Cape

Digby Wells Environmental invites all full-time students registering for their undergraduate (1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year) and Post Graduate studies for the 2024 academic year, to apply for the opportunity to participate in our bursary programme.

The Digby Wells Environmental bursary includes financial aid, comprising of tuition fees, a laptop, and book allowance.

Learners who will be inducted into the company, will also receive:

  • Paid vacation employment with practical training and on-site exposure,
  • On-going mentorship from our highly experienced staff and full-time employment on graduation.

Requirements


  • Learners must demonstrate academic potential.
  • Funding may only be awarded for full time study.
  • The learners must demonstrate a high level of passion towards working outdoors and want to contribute and make a difference to the environment.
  • The application process is highly competitive and potential applicants must be able to demonstrate both a high degree of motivation and the preparation and ability required to complete their studies.
  • Learners who are currently enrolled in Grade 12 are required to attached proof of application made to their University of choice.
  • Students already registered at a University should provide an academic record.

Students must be eligible and want to study towards a career in the Environmental and Social Services Industry.

The following fields of study will be eligible for bursary support:

  • BSc. Environmental Sciences
  • Geography, Zoology
  • Hydrogeology
  • Hydrology
  • BA Community Development
  • BSc; and
  • Research Psychology.

 

Academic Requirements

Only applicants who have obtained the following marks for Grade 12 all year will be considered:

  • A minimum of 60% in Mathematics
  • A minimum of 60% in English
  • An average of 65% is required.
